Following BNP’s announcement, Jamaat-e-Islami has also called another two-day nationwide blockade starting on Wednesday to press home their demands.
Acting secretary general of the party Maulana ATM Masum announced in a statement on Monday evening.
The blockade would begin at 6am on Wednesday till 6am on Friday, reads the statement.
The Jamaat leader stressed the party's demands for the re-establishment of the caretaker government system and the release and withdrawal of all cases against the party's chief Dr Shafiqur Rahman and other activists.
Earlier, the opposition BNP announced a 48-hour blockade starting Wednesday morning as the party and its allies enforce a nationwide blockade set to end early on Tuesday.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of the party, announced in a virtual press conference on Monday afternoon.
The third phase of the blockade will start at 6am on Wednesday and continue till Friday 6am.
