Processions brought out by the ruling Awami League, on Saturday marched through Naya Paltan to join a public rally arranged at Arambagh on the occasion of the inauguration of the Agargaon to Motijheel section of the metro rail.
The rally started at 2:30pm on Saturday.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the rally.
Leaders and activists of Awami League joined the rally coming from different areas of Dhaka and other districts.
Party’s leaders and activists were seen marching with a procession on Naya Paltan road in front of BNP central office around 2:30pm.
The BNP office was locked at that time. Policemen were seen lined up in front of the office.
It was seen that the procession was going towards Arambagh through Naya Paltan road. Another procession was coming towards Nightingale from Arambagh.
Several processions of Awami League were seen circling Naya Paltan road.
Meanwhile, Awami League leaders and activists were seen gathering in Dainik Bangla, Motijheel, Kamalapur and surrounding areas. They were marching towards the public rally with slogans.
