Amu: Stern action will be taken if BNP creates anarchy again

Awami League advisory council member and 14-party alliance spokesperson Amir Hossain Amu on Monday said strict action will be taken against BNP if the party creates anarchy in the name of movement in the country again.

"The BNP's movement means terror, anarchy, arson attack and killing people," he told a protest rally of central 14-party against attacks on the chief justice's residence, police and journalists in front of the central office of Awami League in the city's Bangabandhu Avenue.

He said the BNP attacked the Chief Justice's residence, assaulted journalists, killed a policeman, and carried out arson attacks on vehicles during a grand rally in the city's Naya Paltan on Saturday proving that BNP is a terrorist party.

The Awami League veteran leader said the upcoming general election will be held under the incumbent government in time as per the country's constitution.

The BNP will not be exempted, he added.

In 2014, the BNP had an arson attack on a total of 650 educational institutions and they (BNP) had killed a total of 18 policemen, said Amu. The party does not want development of the country, he added.

Amu said the BNP wants to destroy the country's democratic trend and the party wants to turn Bangladesh into a failed state by creating an anarchic situation but Awami League leaders, activists and the peaceful people of Bangladesh will not allow it to happen.

He urged all to remain alert against the BNP's any kind of conspiracy under the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The 14-party alliance will participate in the upcoming general election with Awami League, he said.

Workers Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon said BNP-Jamaat has failed through their terrorist activities on Saturday.

Jatiya Samaj Tantric Dal President Hasanul Haque Inu said the BNP killed police and attacked the chief justice's residence in the name of the rally on Saturday. The BNP is the masked devil of democracy there is no compromise with BNP, he said.

Jatiya Party (JP) Secretary General Sheikh Shahidul Islam said the non-communal unity will be built like Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman against BNP-Jamaat.

“We will make a non-communal Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina”, he added.
