35 Jamaat-Shibir men sued in Savar

Thirty-five leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir were sued thursday on charge of carrying out vandalism and blasting crude bombs during Wednesday’s countrywide hartal enforced by the party.

Hasan Mahbub Master, political secretary of Dhaka district Uttar unit Jamaat, and Savar unit Shibir leader Shakil Ahmed were among the accused, reports UNB.

Sub-Inspector Taposh of Savar model police station filed the case against 16 named and 19 unidentified under Explosive Substances Act.

Police and locals said some Jamaat-Shibir men vandalised three vehicles and blasted several crude bombs near Savar bus stand on Dhaka-Aricha highway on Wednesday afternoon. Later, police arrested two Shibir men along with two bombs from the area.
