BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has said that the party’s leaders and activists now must actively participate in street protests whenever the call arises.
“No matter how and where you live, you have to take to the streets,” he said while addressing a doa mahfil in Naya Paltan on Monday.
Shamsuzzaman said Khaleda Zia, despite being the wife of a freedom fighter is under the confinement of the government. “It is unacceptable that such a popular leader has been detained by a barbaric government.”
He said that BNP leaders and activists must free Khaleda Zia. “This government must be toppled. There is no alternative.”
Meanwhile, BNP has decided to postpone Monday's scheduled rally in Aminbazar after law enforcers allegedly dismantled the stage set up for the event.
Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP's media cell, confirmed the development.
The district leaders will meet at 3pm in the afternoon at the Naya Paltan central office to determine where and when they will reschedule the rally.
Dhaka district BNP General Secretary Nipun Roy Chowdhury alleged that the stage was vandalized by Awami League activists around midnight on Sunday.
