Quader: BNP, dengue two enemies of Bangladesh

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday likened the BNP to dengue, saying people's lives are not safe from dengue while democracy and security are not safe in the hands of the BNP.

“Today the country's two main dangerous enemies, dengue and the BNP, must be stopped,” Quader, who is also the road transport and bridges minister, made the remark while addressing a public awareness program at Dhanmondi’s Rabindra Sarobar, arranged by the Awami League's health and population subcommittee.

In response to a question from journalists, he said that the BNP to looking at the US hoping for more sanctions and visa policies. “Meanwhile, the Awami League is looking to the people of the country.”

The Awami League general secretary asked local administrations to strengthen their anti-dengue programs. He urged authorities as well as party leaders and activists to come forward in this regard.

Later awareness leaflets on the prevention of dengue were distributed.
