BNP, Awami League affiliates set to hold counter programs in Dhaka

The Awami League will hold a rally in Dhaka on Saturday in continuation of its programs to counter the BNP's events.

Two associate bodies of the ruling Awami League – Jubo League and Swechasebak League – announced that they will hold a rally on the day of the pre-announced rally of three affiliates of the opposition BNP.

The Awami League's program was announced on Friday night.

Three BNP associate bodies – Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and Swechchasebak Dal – will hold a youth rally at Suhrawardy Uddyan to drum up youth support for their demand for polls under a caretaker government.

At the same time, two kilometres away, a “development and peace rally” will be held in front of the Awami League office on Bangabandhu Avenue under the banner of the Jubo League and the Swechasebak League.

Meanwhile, Chhatra League has announced to take a “peaceful position” from Shahbagh to Dhaka University campus next to Suhrawardy Udyan during the youth rally to “prevent anarchy.”
