Chhatra Dal President Kazi Rawnakul Islam Srabon on Monday said that Sheikh Hasina's downfall will be ensured from the party's upcoming youth rally in Dhaka on July 22
“Sheikh Hasina's family has received a yellow card from Khulna rally,”said the BNP's student wing president.
He made these remarks at BNP's Tarunner Samabesh (Youth Rally) on the Sonali Bank premises in Khulna on Monday.
Thousands of leaders and activists of BNP's three associate bodies took part in the rally.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir addressed the event as the chief guest.
Two chairs were kept vacant for BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in Khulna youth rally. Pictures of Khaleda Zia and Tarek Rahman were placed on the two chairs.
Juba Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku said that they (the government) are so scared about Hero Alam that he was not even allowed to enter polling stations. But tagging Sheikh Hasina as a vote thief angered them.
“Approximately 47 million voters are being deprived of their voting rights.. They have no constitutional rights. We are actively working and protesting to ensure these new voters are enfranchised. We have no time to waste. We, too, are not inclined to sit idly at home. We will not rest until Sheikh Hasina is ousted," Swechasebak Dal President,SM Jilani said.
BNP's Khulna Divisional Organising Secretary (Acting) Anindya Islam Amit stated that youth have a crucial role to play in safeguarding sovereignty and establishing democracy. The current young generation is being deprived of their voting rights. However, despite sacrificing their academic pursuits and spending their precious days behind bars, these young people have taken to the streets in protest. It is their determination that will ultimately overthrow Sheikh Hasina and pave the way for democracy in the coming days.
Moshiur Rahman Jadu, information and technology affairs secretary of the central committee of the Swechasebak Dal, said: “All the young people who have not been able to cast their first vote in life, are being deprived of freedom of speech, deprived of their rights, deprived of jobs, have become victims of oppression, all the young people who are plagued by assault cases woke up today.”
“Young people flocked to the youth rally because they wanted to get rid of the tyranny of fascism. This fascist government has no power to stop the turbulent wave. The only wish of these youth is to overthrow these new tyrants and establish a people's government through elections under a non-partisan neutral government to save the country,” he added.
Meanwhile, the leaders of BNP and other organizations have alleged that the rally was being obstructed so that it could not be a success.
Khulna Metropolitan BNP Convenor Shafiqul Alam Mona alleged that the ruling party leaders and activists obstructed the youth from joining the rally.
They (Awami Leage leaders) forced the bus owners to suspend services in Koyra and Paikgacha upazilas from Sunday so that BNP leaders and activists cannot join the rally, he claimed.
Meanwhile, Fakhrul emphasized the urgency for the young generation to take prompt action in order to halt elections under Sheikh Hasina's government.
He criticized the current government for causing immense suffering to the country's people.
The BNP leader said the Awami League regime must step down by handing over power to a non-party neutral government to arrange the next election in a credible manner.
Fakhrul also said the current Election Commission must be reconstituted as it will not be able to hold a fair election.
