The BNP's rally to announce its one-point movement has begun in front of its Naya Paltan central office with the participation of a huge number of leaders and activists of the party as well as its associate bodies.
The rally arranged by the BNP's Dhaka South and North units formally began around 1:55pm on Wednesday with a recitation from the holy Quran.
BNP leaders and activists started gathering before the party's central office in processions carrying banners, festoons, placards and portraits of the party's top leaders from different parts of Dhaka on Wednesday morning to join the rally.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will address the program as chief guest and announce a one-point simultaneous movement to press home the resignation of the Awami League government, paving the way for the next national election to be held under a neutral government.

On Tuesday, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) issued separate notices not only allowing the BNP to hold its rally at Naya Paltan but also the ruling Awami League to hold a peace rally not very far away at the Baitul Mokarram National Mosque south gate. Both parties were given permission to hold the rallies on 23 conditions, including ending the programs by 5 pm.
Alongside the BNP, its like-minded political parties are all going to announce the one-point demand through separate rallies in the capital.
