Saddam: Chhatra League will stay alert till BNP remains active

Bangladesh Chhatra League President Saddam Hussain has said despite local and foreign conspiracies, Chhatra League will remain active until drive out BNP from the scene.

He made these remarks on Sunday at TSC at the protest rally against BNP-Jamaat murder and anarchy.

Saddam said: “The attempt to establish a caretaker government is an attack on democracy. The caretaker government has given short-term advantage but has created a long-term disaster.

“BNP sponsors terrorism like an event management company. There are clear allegations against them, they have committed proven crimes. They tried to destabilize the situation in the country by bringing weapons from outside," he added.

Saddam accuses BNP of a foreign-backed plot to overthrow Sheikh Hasina, citing Nayapaltan as their strategic base.

He said: "If BNP protests in a terrorist manner, they will be rewarded, and that's why they have taken to the streets."

Dhaka University Unit President Mazharul Kabir Shayan said: "BNP aims to come to power by instilling fear among people. We have seen them employ this tactic before. Their claims are merely empty rhetoric, similar to what we witnessed in 2014. When they exhaust all other avenues, they resort to burning public resources and spreading panic among the people."

He also added: "BNP lacks a credible candidate for prime minister. Their frequent use of peculiar slogans alienates the people and fails to resonate with the public."
