B Chowdhury and Kader Siddiqui to team up

Bikalpadhara Bangladesh and Bangladesh Krishak-Sramik-Janata League Wednesday announced their decision of forming a third-party political coalition.

Senior leaders of both parties, at a closed-door meeting Wednesday, discussed the current political situation of the country and its possible solutions. The meeting was followed by a joint press conference.

Bikalpadhara Bangladesh President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury expressed his concern over the upcoming national elections and said the very existence of democracy would be questioned, if the elections are not held under a caretaker government.

Replying to a question, B Chowdhury told the media: “There is no way of forming an alliance with the existing coalitions with the any leading political parties. We are planning to become the alternative main political power.”

He also said: “There is no alternative to a caretaker government for a proper and fair national election.”

Meanwhile, Krishak-Sramik-Janata League president Bangabeer Abdul Kader Siddique, Bikalpadhara secretary general Abdul Mannan also attended the meeting.

Kader Siddiqui said: “We are not going to form a coalition with the 18-party alliance. We think the people of the country want an alternative so they can get rid of the two major political alliances.”

“Recent city corporation polls result is not a victory for BNP, rather it is a reflection of the government’s misrule,” he said.
