A mobile court here early Saturday fined a councillor candidate of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) election Tk20,000 on the charge of distributing money among voters, reports UNB.
The accused is Ataur Rahman, ward 52 councillor candidate of the GCC.
Officer-in-charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad of Tongi police station said police arrested Ataur and his two associates from the Tilar Ghachhi area around 2:00am and recovered Tk10,700 from one of his men.
The candidate and his two men were distributing money in the area to convince voters to cast their vote for him, the OC said.
