Awami League on Sunday picked academician and media personality Mohammad A Arafat and former state minister Tarana Halim as the central working committee members of Awami League.
Cultural activist Tarique Sujat and widely known leader of the Hindu Community Nirmal Chatterjee are also the new additions to the central committee of the Awami league.
After a policy-level meeting at Ganabhabaan on Sunday night, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader revealed the information.
Though Awami League's central council was held on December 24, the full committee was yet to be announced.
Awami League central working committee has given the power to Awami League President Sheikh Hasina to fill up the vacant post of the full committee.
At the same time, Awami League had made vacant the existing committee of Rangpur city and the district unit's committee after the disastrous result of the party candidate in the recent Rangpur City Corporation polls.
According to party sources, Syed Abdul Awal Shamim was promoted to the deputy publicity secretary post of the party. He was an executive member of the Awami League in the last committee.
