A Dhaka court has set Thursday for the bail hearing for BNP leaders Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Mirza Abbas, who were arrested on charges of planning and inciting an attack on policement at Naya Paltan.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim passed the order on Wednesday, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's legal counsel Syed Jaynul Abedin told the media.
Earlier, on Tuesday, another court rejected the bail petitions of 224 BNP leaders and activists, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Mirza Abbas.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas were picked up by the police from their homes in the early hours of December 8, just ahead of the party's mass rally in Dhaka on December 10.
They were later shown arrested in a case filed over the December 7 clash between the police and the party men in the capital's Naya Paltan.
A court in Dhaka on the following day sent the two to jail.
