Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud on Saturday said that Dhaka cannot be occupied with just 30,000 people.
He said: “30 thousand people gathered at BNP's rally at Golapbagh. 20 million people live in Dhaka. How will they occupy Dhaka city with just 30 thousand people?”
Hasan Mahmud made the remark while standing in front of the Awami League's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Saturday.
He said: “As a government party, it is our responsibility to assist the government, noting that Awami League leaders and activists have maintained vigilance in neighborhoods and wards to support the administration.
“To prevent anyone from causing turmoil in the nation, our leader has given us the order to be on alert. We have maintained a vigilant guard in Dhaka city in compliance with the directive,” the information minister added.
Awami League presidium member AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Kamrul Islam, and Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya along with the leaders of Metropolitan South Awami League were present.
