The main opposition, BNP, Monday requested US Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan W Mozena to review his government’s decision to suspend the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) for Bangladesh.
“It was a courtesy call. I requested the US ambassador to review the GSP suspension decision,” Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Acting Secretary General of the party, told Dhaka Tribune last night.
He went to Mozena’s house at 4:30pm and spent an hour there.
Fakhrul said the US envoy told him that the US had not cancelled the GSP, but rather postponed it.
The BNP leader said they would work together to improve the situation and review the US's decision.
