A case has been filed against 170 people, including 20 named, in the cocktail explosion in front of the Awami League office in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj.
Raiganj Awami League member Md Jewel Akand filed the case at Raiganj police station Tuesday midnight, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raiganj police station Asif Mohammad Siddiqul Islam on Wednesday.
Raiganj upazila BNP general secretary and former upazila chairman Ainul Haque have been accused in the case along with 20 people from different levels of BNP and 150 others who have not been identified.
Denying the allegation of BNP's involvement in the cocktail blast incident, upazila BNP President Shamsul Islam said: "Awami League has filed a case in the name of Raiganj BNP leaders and activists as a planned strategy."
Abul Kalam Azad Hridoy, general secretary of Raiganj Awami League, said: "At night, BNP activists threw cocktails from a motorcycle and fled. Protest marches and cases have been filed in the night demanding a fair investigation of this incident and bringing those involved under the law.”
Raiganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asif Mohammad Siddiqul Islam said: “A case had been filed in the police station after 12am regarding the cocktail explosion and vandalism in front of the Awami League office at night. However, no one has been arrested in the case yet.”
