Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said that Thursday's mass rally that will be the first political gathering attended by party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in person following the Covid-19 pandemic will be a historical event.
He made the remark after visiting the venue for the rally in Jessore on Wednesday evening.
Quader also said that Sheikh Hasina is the embodiment of the transformation of Bangladesh. She is working from the perspective of the reality of Bangladesh in the context of the world crisis.
He said Padma Bridge has mitigated distance between the southern part and rest of the country.
“People from Jessore can now go to Dhaka in two and a half hours. The south-western region has been brought together, including Jessore, Khulna, and 21 districts. Since the opening of the Madhumati Bridge, the route has become simpler,” he added.
Mentioning that the Awami League president would discuss the leader's future action plan and her progress in the public meeting, Quader said: “She will describe her dreams for the public as well as what she plans to do.”
Before the pandemic, the prime minister attended numerous meetings and groups on a regular basis.
“She traveled to Sylhet to aid the flood victims. She went to the shrine of Hazrat Shahzalal there. She did not, however, go to any public events there. This is the first public gathering; further gatherings will take place in Chittagong and Cox's Bazar,” Quader said.
