Comilla city unit of Awami League has made MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar the new committee president and Comilla City Corporation Mayor Arfanul Haque Rifat the general secretary.
Sheikh Fazlul Karim Salim, chief guest of the conference and presidium member of Awami League, announced the name of the new president and general secretary on the proposal of the ward councilors at the conference held at Comilla town hall ground on Saturday afternoon, reports Bangla Tribune.
The triennial conference of the Comilla city unit of Awami League began at 11am by Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister.
Presidium member of the party Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim spoke as the chief guest while another presidium member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya was present as special guest.
Mahbubul Alam Hanif, joint general secretary of Awami League, and Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan, organizing secretary of the party, among others, joined the council.
The committee of Comilla city Awami League was announced for the first time on July 22, 2017, six years after the formation of Comilla City Corporation (CCC).
