BNP is getting funds from foreign countries to launch movements against the government, claimed Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday.
He also mentioned that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is receiving money from Dubai, and hence he is so active these days.
He was speaking at the triennial conference of Dhaka district Awami League at the capital's Sher-E-Bangla Nagar area on Saturday.
He added: “Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is lying on a bed made of money, and it's coming from other countries in the name of their conference.”
The minister also asked the participants of the rally: “Do you know why BNP is doing so much? Because they know they would lose in the national polls if they compete against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”
"This is not a game for money, it is a game against vote rigging, against corruption,” he added.
He later called upon Mirza Fakhrul to watch the Awami League conference on television and said: "Look at your rally and look at ours in Dhaka. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is not even here. There will be a gathering of 1 million people in Chittagong's Polo Ground as the prime minister will attend the event.”
Thousands of leaders and activists of the ruling party joined the Dhaka district Awami League's triennial conference on Saturday.
After almost six years, the triennial conference of Dhaka district Awami League is being held at the capital's Sher-E-Bangla Nagar area.
The conference was inaugurated by hoisting the party flag at around 2:25pm, reports Bangla Tribune.
The party men started gathering around the platform shaped like Awami League's boat symbol since morning.
As the conference was held after a long time, the upazilas were covered with banners and festoons in the names of the leaders and activists of the Dhaka district.
Bangladesh Awami League Presidium Member Advocate Kamrul Islam inaugurated the conference while the General Secretary Obaidul Quader was present as the chief guest.
