‘Corruption, drugs have to go’

Mayor-elect of Rajshahi City Corporation Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul has reiterated his stance to work as a servant rather than a ruler of the people and vowed to make Rajshahi a modern city with the help of the city residents.

The mayor-elect has already pledged not hiking holding tax during his tenure in a bid to upgrade the condition of living and pledged to turn it into the country’s model city by making it corruption and drug free.

On his plans to root-out corruption, Bulbul said: “After sitting on the mayor’s chair, my first work will be to make RCC a nepotism and corruption free organisation. “I will also create an atmosphere at the RCC that allows staff of all departments to work independently.”

Recently, at a way side meeting Bulbul said, he wanted to bring a change of trend in politics. He said: “It does not matter that, which party’s supporter we are. But about the development of Rajshahi,we must work together”.

Bulbul said Liton is like an elder brother. “He is also my close neighbour. I have already met several times with him after the elections and took advice from him. He also adviced me with an open mind.

Locals said, they want to see their new Mayor to complete the on going development projects of the city which former Mayor Liton left incomplete.
