BNP on Thursday announced a two-day programme protesting the killing of a Jubo Dal activist in Narayanganj and attacks on the party’s 44th anniversary programmes all over Bangladesh.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme in front of the party’s central office at Naya Paltan.
As part of the programme, the party will arrange namaz-e-janaza seeking the salvation of slain Jubo Dal activist Shaon, 21, after jumma prayers on Friday.
The party will also stage demonstrations across Bangladesh on Saturday.
BNP will also arrange a discussion on Friday on the occasion.
BNP brought out a rally from its central office marking its 44th founding anniversary on Thursday noon.
Earlier on Thursday, Jubo Dal activist Shaon was killed and 50 people were injured in a clash between police and the opposition party members in Narayanganj as they took out a procession around 10:45am, marking the founding anniversary of the party.
Ziaur Rahman founded BNP on September 1, 1978, with a 19-point programme to build a self-reliant Bangladesh. After his assassination on May 30, 1981, his widow Khaleda took over BNP leadership.
The party had been in power four times and played the role of opposition twice. BNP has been out of power for nearly 15 years since the 1/11 political changeover in 2007.
