The BNP’s Khulna unit has served a show-cause notice to its district convening committee member and Atalia Union Parishad Chairman Sheikh Helal Uddin for praising an Awami League lawmaker.
According to the notice issued on Wednesday, Helal spoke highly of Khulna 5 lawmaker and Dumuria Awami League President Narayan Chandra Chanda at a program on Tuesday.
Helal also asked people for their blessings and votes so Narayan could win the next election.
A video of the UP chairman’s speech soon went viral on social media.
The BNP asked Sheikh Helal Uddin to explain the matter within seven days.
