BNP: Over 50 journalists killed under Awami League administration

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday expressed deep concern, anger and strong condemnation over the killing of journalist Ghulam Rabbani Nadeem, saying during the tenure of the current government, more than 50 journalists have been killed and numerous journalists have been sued and attacked.

“The murder of the journalist couple Sagar-Runi has not been prosecuted in an era. Also, due to the lack of justice for the killing and torture of numerous journalists, the murders are happening one after the other,” he said in a statement.

He added: “There is no security for the life and property of the people of the country in the hands of the dictatorial government. No one, including men and women, is safe from them. Even the journalists are not spared. People's lives are now extremely insecure.”

He said that if there was democracy and the rule of law in the country, such kind of incidents would not have happened again.
