BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that CCTV cameras have been installed in the cells of opposition leaders by a group of prison officers to monitor their activities.
He said: “Torture has reached a new level in jails too. CCTV cameras have been installed in the cells of opposition leaders. If anyone comes to meet us there, he will end up in Kashimpur jail. Greedy prison officials are doing this just to please the prime minister and get a promotion.”
The senior BNP leader made the remarks at an event in Dhaka on Saturday.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was released on bail on April 25 after being imprisoned for about four and a half months.
Regarding the prime minister's foreign visit, Rizvi said: “The prime minister left the country for a 15-day visit. To stay in power, she went to do business with foreigners. Actually you (Sheikh Hasina) want a guarantee. All the red lights for your fall are on.”
