Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also ruling Awami League president, has urged opposition BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to respond to her proposal for holding talks.
Requesting Khaleda to return to the practice of positive politics shunning the politics of destruction, protecting the war criminals and killing innocent people, she said: “Keep trust on people.”
Hasina came up with the call while addressing a view-exchange meeting with the grassroots leaders and activists of Barguna district Awami League at her official residence at Ganabhaban on Saturday morning.
“We have already placed our proposal of holding talks to the opposition leader. Now, I am urging her to respond to our call,” she said.
Terming Hefazat-e-Islam’s Dhaka siege programme illogical, Hasina said: “The government has already met some of their 13-point demand and rest will be met soon if those are found logical.”
Among others, central leaders of the ruling party, Barguna district AL president Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu and general secretary Jahangir Kabir were present at the meeting.
