'Why should Awami League celebrate my birthday?'

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina became very annoyed at suggestions of party leaders to celebrate her birthday in style. The discussion was raised at Awami League’s central working committee meeting. “Why should Awami League celebrate my birthday? Why would it be a topic of discussion for the meeting?” the Awami League president said while addressing the meeting on Saturday. The issue of the celebration was also included on the agenda for the meeting and when the issue came up for consideration, Prime Minister Hasina became very irritated, barring any further discussion. She said: “I had said before that we should not discuss this [prime minister’s birthday]; then why has this issue come up on the agenda of the meeting again?” The prime minister also said she does not want the party to celebrate her birthday in an extravagant manner.
