Babunagari: I did not want to resign

Prominent Hefazat leader Junayed Nagari has claimed that neither his opinion was sought nor was he informed about the removal from his post of assistant director from Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam, also known as Hathazari Madrasa.

The Hefazat leader made the claim after issuing a media release on Wednesday night.

Babunagari, also the Secretary-General of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, said that a Shura Committee (highest decision-making forum) was held chaired by Shah Ahmed Shafi at Hathazari Madrasa on Wednesday.

“At the fag end of the meeting, I was summoned to know about some issues. I presented my points before Shah Ahmed Shafi and the Shura Committee members. Neither was I not asked to step down from my post, nor did I consent to my resignation. At the end of the meeting, a member of the Shura Committee informed me about my removal from the post,” said Babunagari.

“I got to know from the official Facebook page of the Madrasa that I was removed from my post as I consented to the resignation. This is totally baseless. I did not seek any such resignation from the Shura Committee,” Babunagari added.
