Quader: Anarchy in movement's name to be dealt with strictly

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has warned if any attempt is made to create anarchy in the name of movement it will be dealt with an iron hand.

“If you want to wage a movement, you can do it. It will be faced politically. But any attempt to create anarchy will be dealt with strictly. Because, it is the responsibility of the government to protect lives and property of people,” he said.

Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, made the warning at a views-exchange meeting with the Awami League MPs from Dhaka city and the mayor-elects of the two Dhaka city corporations at the Awami League President’s Dhanmondi political office on Saturday, reports UNB.

Referring to the BNP’s threat to go for a movement, he said they are familiar with such threats. “BNP is threatening to wage a movement against the court,” he said.

 Earlier in the day, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that they will stage demonstrations across Bangladesh on February 15 demanding their chairperson, Khaleda Zia’s release from jail.
