Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak was hospitalized on Monday after a cardiac arrest.
Nanak, former state minister for local government, rural development and cooperatives, was admitted to Dhaka's Labaid Specialized Hospital on Monday morning.
His personal secretary Mohammad Biplob confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune and said: “Nanak was taken to hospital around 9am on Monday after severe chest pain.”
Biplob said: “After the first ECG [electrocardiogram], doctors advised an angiogram. According to an angiogram report, the doctor said two blocks were detected in the heart, and a ring was immediately inserted. He is in the CCU [coronary care unit]."
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and many other party leaders and activists visited Nanak in hospital on Monday.
