BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has received dental treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
Confirming the matter, BSMMU's Oral and Maxillofacial Department Chairman Prof Dr Quazi Billur Rahman said: "Amid tight security, Khaleda was taken from the hospital’s cabin block to the dental unit around 1:30pm Saturday.
"She has been suffering from erosion in one of her teeth and we have repaired the damaged portion of the tooth. She was shifted back to her cabin after half an hour," he added.
Khaleda Zia, who has been in jail since February last year, was admitted to BSMMU on April 1, based on the recommendation of a medical board of experts.
The BNP chief landed in jail in February after she was sentenced to a five-year jail term in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
Later, she was also convicted in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case, and awarded a seven-year jail sentence, which was extended by a higher court to 10 years in prison, following her appeal.
On Friday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir claimed that Khaleda's health condition has deteriorated a lot, and she cannot move without a wheelchair.
