Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has been shifted to a cabin, from the ICU, now that his condition has improved.
"He is doing well," Prof Dr Abu Nasar Rizvi of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) said on Wednesday.
"Doctors are preparing to conduct a bypass surgery next week," Rizvi said.
His condition has been gradually improving over the last few days.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on March 3, following breathing complications.
Later, doctors found three blockages in his coronary arteries following an angiogram.
The next day, he was flown to Singapore, for better treatment, following the advice of renowned Indian cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty.
