BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Fakrul has said Bangladesh lacks an election-friendly environment.
“As our democratic responsibility, we are participating in this election. Through our activities, we will have our chairperson, Khaleda Zia, released and establish democracy,” the senior politician said—while collecting his nomination form for the Thakurgaon 1 constituency from the party’s Naya Paltan central office, around 11am, on Monday.

“BNP will review the decision to participate in the elections if the environment is not election-friendly,” Fakhrul added.
He also said they want the immediate release of BNP leaders and activists who are currently imprisoned.
