As the Prime Minster has responded to the requests of political parties and alliances for talks, Islami Oikya Jote too sent a letter to Sheikh Hasina on Friday seeking dialogue with her over the ensuing general election.
Altaf Hossain assistant secretary general of Islami Oikya Jote and student affairs secretary Ansarul Haque Imran handed over the letter to Awami League’s president’s political office in Dhanmondi at 5pm.
Awami League deputy office secretary Biplob Barua received the letter on behalf of Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The letter said “We are pleased that you have opened a scope for dialogue with the political parties regarding upcoming general election. We will be happy if you invite us to hold a dialogue with you at your convenient time. We believe it's possible to resolve all the problems through our will and cordiality."
On Sunday, Dr Kamal Hossain, on behalf of the Jatiya Oikya Front, sent a letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina seeking dialogue. Sheikh Hasina replied to it on Tuesday morning and invited the Oikya Front leaders to join the dialogue at 7 pm on Thursday at Ganabhaban.
Welcoming Prime Minister's decision to hold talks with political parties, President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Tuesday also sent a letter to the Awami League chief to engage in dialogue over the same issue.
