B Chy sends letter to PM seeking dialogue

Appreciating the Prime Minister's decision on holding talks with political parties, President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury has sent a letter to PM Hasina seeking dialogue on Tuesday.

Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh Presidium Member Abdur Rouf and Organizing Secretary Omar Farroque carried the letter to the parliament's media lobby around 6pm.

Badruddoza Chowdhury's Press Secretary Jahangir Alam confirmed the news.

Earlier at a meeting Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh presidium members welcomed the Prime Minister's response to different political parties' proposal for dialogue and expressed their desire for talks with her.

Following the Pesidium Members decision, Badruddoza Chowdhury sent the letter to the Prime Minister.

In the letter Badruddoza Chwodhury said "We're pleased that you've extended the offer to engage in a political dialogue to resolve the problems regarding the election. We, on behalf of Jukta Front and Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh, sincerely thank you for this gesture."

"We'll be happy if you invite us to join the dialogue with you at your convenient time. We believe it's possible to resolve all the problems through our will and cordiality," he also wrote in the letter.

AL-Oikya Front talks on Thursday

Earlier on Sunday, Dr Kamal had written to the prime minister urging her to sit and discuss with them various issues over the 11th general election, in order to reach a political consensus for a free and fair election.

In response Awami League Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap handed over the prime minister’s invitation letter for the meeting to Kamal at his house around 8am on Tuesday.

The formal invitation came a day after Awami League had announced that it would sit with Oikya Front.

In the invitation, PM Hasina thanked Kamal for his letter, and said that her door was always open for discussions to uphold democracy.

The ruling Awami League, led by its chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, will hold a dialogue with Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Front at the Ganabhaban on Thursday.

According to the letter, the dialogue between the ruling party and the newly formed political alliance, which has BNP as a key member, will begin at the prime minister’s official residence in Dhaka at 7pm Thursday.
