Hasan Mahmud: BNP is doing devil’s work

The leaders of BNP are evil, and they are doing the devil’s work in Bangladesh, Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said on Friday.

Speaking at a rally in front of National Press Club in Dhaka, the ruling party leader said: “The devil is smirking at us; He is saying: ‘I have nothing to do in Bangladesh; BNP is doing my work there.”

Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad organized the rally.

Addressing the event, Hasan Mahmud said the BNP leaders were “devil incarnate.”

“The other day, at their meeting in Suhrawardy Udyan, they said they were ready to form alliance with the devil. That proves that the party has turned evil,” he said.

Saying BNP’s attempt to form a greater alliance would not work, Hasan said: “Welcoming those who have become obsolete in politics will not do you [BNP] any favour.”

He warned his party’s arch political rival not to create a situation ahead of the national polls.

“You won’t be allowed to create a situation like the one in 2013-14 [ahead of the 10th parliamentary election]. I urge BNP to start preparations to take part in the upcoming election. They have been asked by the Commonwealth secretary general to do the same. So leave the devil’s way and start preparing for the polls,” Hasan said.
