BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed on Tuesday called upon their party leaders and activists to take all-out preparations to take to the streets from October 1 to force the government to hold a credible election.
He said, "We won't give the government any chance this time to score on an empty field. We won't' allow this regime to go unchallenged," reports UNB.
Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Projonmo 71 arranged the program at the Jatiya Press Club demanding BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's release and a fair and natural election.
The BNP standing committee member further added: "We'll be there on the field together with people. So, get ready to take to the streets from October 1."
Moudud invited the entire nation to be united to remove the current 'autocratic regime'. In his words, "We'll have to make the national unity process stronger to create a mass wave."
He said that their party will take part in the next general election together with people after freeing their chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.
"We'll oust the government through a peaceful voting without indulging in any violence," he remarked.
The BNP leader further stated that the comment made by Sheikh Hasina that Dr Kamal Hossain and Badruddoza Chowdhury forged a unity with corrupt people is indecent by commenting, "We don't expect such comments from the Prime Minister. Her remarks have clearly exposed that the government has got frightened and worried in the progress of the national unity process."
Moudud also urged the Prime Minister to withdraw her comments about the leaders involved in the national unity process for the sake of maintaining discipline in politics.
He criticized the Prime Minister for calling BNP leaders corrupt and said no government in the last 15-16 years has been involved in corruption to the extent the current government has gone.
Moudud said that the entire nation is now united to ensure its fall as such remarks from the Prime Minister herself only intensifies the national unity process.
