Is BNP leader Amir Khosru exploiting student demos?

An audio clip has gone viral in social media, in which it is assumed that BNP leader Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury is exploiting the ongoing protest demanding safe roads.

In the clip that went viral on YouTube and Facebook since Saturday afternoon, a phone conversation was heard between two persons.

In the conversation that lasted for 1:49 minutes, it was heard that a young man was addressing an older one. The older person asked the youth whether they were involved in the protest.

He also asked the youth to mobilize 200-400 people and join in the demonstration in Dhaka.

The youth was also asked to flood the Facebook with posts.

The Dhaka Tribune contacted the BNP leader to verify whether the voice of the senior person was his or not.  He, however, evaded a direct reply.

“People across the country are supporting the children in their demonstration for safe roads. We are also supporting them on behalf of our party,” the BNP standing committee member told the Dhaka Tribune over phone.

“People are cooperating with them in numerous ways—some are feeding them rice while some others are giving them water.

“We have extended our cooperation as people of this country,” Khosru added.
