Nine more parties keen to join AL-led alliance

Leaders of nine minor political parties have expressed their interest to join with the Awami League-led grand alliance.

The parties are Islamic Front Bangladesh, Trinomul BNP, Krishak Sramik Party, Bangladesh Sammilita Islami Jote, National Democratic Alliance, Ganatantrik Andolan, Jago Dal, Ekamot Andolon, and Ganatantrik Jote.

Leaders of these parties expressed their willingness at a meeting with the grand alliance at the Awami League president’s political office at Dhanmondi on Wednesday.

Of these parties, only Islamic Front Bangladesh is registered with the Election Commission.

Awami League Presidium Member Mohammad Nasim, also the alliance spokesperson, told a press briefing that they heard about nine parties’ interest in joining with the alliance but a final decision is yet to be made.

“Only Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will take a final decision about the matter,” he said.

Trinomul BNP leader Nazmul Huda, a former leader of BNP, said they are willing to work with Awami League to build a country in the spirit of the Liberation War.
