No ballot papers in Mogorkhal High school for 2 hours

Voters were unable to cast their votes at Mogorkhal High School in Mogorkhal of Chondogram, in Gazipur, from 10am to 12pm.

Presiding Officer of the polling centre Hasanul Karim Kamal said ballot papers were unavailable for 40 minutes.

However, voters of the centre were able to cast their votes after 12pm, he said.

Casting of ballot papers began at 8am on Tuesday, which will continue until 4pm.

A total of 1,137,736 voters are expected to exercise their franchise to elect a mayor and 76 councillors—57 general ward councillors and 19 reserve women councillors—for a five-year term. 254 general councillor candidates are competing for 57 posts, while 84 are vying for the seats reserved for women.

This year, Awami League's Jahangir Alam and BNP's Hasan Uddin Sarker are the main competitors for the mayor candidacy in the Gazipur city polls.
