Awami League to give PM Hasina mass reception on July 21

Awami League will accord a mass reception to Prime Minister and the party’s chief Sheikh Hasina on her and the country’s recent successes on July 21.

It would be organized that day at 3pm at the Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka, according to a press release issued by the ruling party on Tuesday.

The reception would be accorded over Bangladesh attaining the eligibility to graduate to a developing country from the least developed pool; launching of Bangabandhu-1 Satellite; Hasina receiving the Global Women’s Leadership Award from US-based NGO Global Summit of Women; and her receiving Doctor of Literature (D. Litt) degree from the Kazi Nazrul University at Asansol in West Bengal, India.

The party earlier had decided to hold the program on July 7.

PM calls on president

The prime minister made a courtesy call on President Md Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban Tuesday evening.

Afterwards, the president’s Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin told BSS that she had exchanged Eid greetings with Hamid, apart from apprising him of the outcome of her recent visits to Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Australia, India and Canada.

He said the president congratulated Hasina for receiving the D. Litt degree from the Kazi Nazrul University.

Earlier, the prime minister had reached Bangabhaban at 7:36pm, and was received by Hamid with a flower bouquet.

The secretaries concerned and high officials from the offices of both the president and the prime minister were also present at the time.
