Khalek, Manju cast their votes

Mayor candidates for Khuna City Corporation (KCC) election Talukder Abdul Khaleque and Nazrul Islam Manju have cast their votes.

The voting started around 8am on Tuesday.

Khaleque cast his vote at the polling center in Pioneer Girls School, while Manju cast his vote at Rahima Government Primary School.

Talking about the allegation of BNP polling agents being driven away from centers, Khaleque said: “It is their internal matter. We believe the election will be fair.” 

Later, he visited BK Union Institute.

On the other hand, Manju said: “My agents are being driven away from the polling centers.”

The city has 4,93,107 voters– 2,48,986 men and 2,44,527 women– in 31 wards.

Border Guard Bangladesh troopers, police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar and VDP members have been deployed to ensure law and order while 49 executive magistrates and 10 judicial magistrates are also on duty.

Three to four platoons of BGB troopers have been kept as a reserve force.
