‘The present government worse than even Baksal’

BNP Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed has said that the current government is more vicious than the Baksal government in 1975. He made the statement during a rally held to protest BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s imprisonment. The rally was organized by Bangladesh Youth Forum and held at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Saturday. “Bangladesh is not like it used to be. In 1972, Awami League led the country and established a new constitution. They then disrespected that constitution and established the Baksal dictatorship. The current government is even worse than the Baksal government. They do not talk about any of this during any talk shows or public events,” he said. He also said that Awami League’s current policies are no good. Moudud said the police recklessly attacked BNP leaders and members during their “peaceful event” at Naya Paltan Saturday morning. “A government that allows such a thing to happen will never allow a peaceful and fair election,” he added. BNP Executive Committee Member Abu Naser Rahmatullah and Bangladesh Youth Forum president Mohammad Saidur Rahman were also present during the event. This article was first published on banglatribune.com
