'When you are in politics, you face politically motivated cases, even false charges'

Health Minister Nasim has said one will have to face politically motivated and false cases if they intend to do politics. “If one wants to pursue politics, they will have to face cases, some of which might be politically motivated and even false,” he said at Dhaka University on Wednesday. Nasim, also the presidium member of Awami League, made the statement while addressing a program of Dhaka University Student association of Chudanga (DUSAC) in the morning. The minister also urged Khaleda Zia to not be afraid of going to jail, as he himself was sent to jail for at least seven times in the past. A Dhaka court is scheduled to deliver its verdict on Thursday, in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and five others. “Do not be afraid of going to jail,” said Nasim. “For all politicians, going to jail is a matter of pride.” Regarding separate lanes for VIPs, the minister said: “Please do not introduce VIP lanes for MP and ministers. “We are politicians, and we want to stay close to the people.” Dhaka University Student association of Chudanga (DUSAC) provided stipends to 50 students from Chuadanga who are currently studying at the university.
