‘Govt adopting citizenship law with ill motive’

The party, however, suggested that the government further scrutinise the draft law before its passage, claiming that many a matter in the law is not clear. BNP came up with the statements in a seminar it organised on Friday at a hotel in Gulshan where   civil society personalities, academicians and lawyers also shared their views on the law. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir  said the law will work as another step forward to keep suppressing the countrymen. “First of all, we have to know why and for whose sake the law is being adopted? Who are working for it?” he added. According to him, the law will greatly help serve the interest of the ruling party leaders and activists since it is not drafted for the masses. Fakhrul demanded the government to hold talks with general people before passing the law, urging the people, regardless of their political identity, ages and social status, to fan agitation for proper justification in it.
