Rizvi: Govt disclosing state secrets to its masters

“Foreign diplomats have been visiting important institutions of Bangladesh’s security forces and the government is disclosing state secrets to its masters in a bid to stay in power,” Rizvi said at a media briefing held at the party’s Nayapaltan Headquarters Friday morning. The BNP leader did not specify who these foreign diplomats were. However, it was learnt that the Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka, Harshavardhan Sringla, visited Bangladesh Police Academy at Sardah in Rajshahi on Monday, where the national next-door neighbour is assisting in the construction of a Bangladesh-India Friendship Building and an IT centre. Rizvi said: “The government gave a corridor to India in the name of transit and permitted the country to use our seaports, but we get nothing in return.” He also alleged that BNP chief Khaleda Zia had been harassed by the government, as they were compelling her to appear in court two to three times a week. Condemning the incident of a Chandpur Awami League leader walking on a “human-bridge” of students, Rizvi said that such things happened as the state had an “immoral" amount of power.
