Awami League to announce DNCC candidate on Jan 16

Awami League will announce its candidate for the Dhaka north mayor by-polls after a meeting on January 16.
“Awami League will declare the name of its candidate on January 16 after the meeting of the local government nomination board,”Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told the press after a meeting of the party's central secretaries.
“We have not finalized our candidate yet,” he said.
The party would definitely elect a candidate who is in tune with with Awami League’s ideology, the general secretary said.
“We will sit with the party president and the local government nomination board will take the final decision,” Quader said at the press briefing at Awami League president’s office at Dhanmondi on Thursday.
In reply to a question by journalists, the minister said there were no possibilities of a repetition of the 1/11 in Bangladesh.
“We learned from 1/11, but BNP did not take lessons from the incident,” added Quader.
He also claimed that Awami League will win in the next election by a huge margin.
Among others, Awami League joint-general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Abdur Rahman, Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, organizing secretaries Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Ahmad Hossain, AKM Enamul Haque Shamim and others.
