Hasina abolishes AL’s Dhaka north thana-level committees

All thana-unit committees of the ruling Awami League in Dhaka north city have been abolished as some leaders of the units voiced their objections against them. Party chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the decision abolishing the committees on Tuesday. She came up with the decision after 11 leaders led by Dhaka north Awami League Joint General Secretary Kader Khan had met her at Ganabhaban to inform her of their dissatisfaction over the committees approved by Dhaka north unit president AKM Rahmat Ullah and General Secretary Sadek Khan. They urged the party chief to incorporate dedicated and hardworking leaders in the committees. Meanwhile, Hasina asked Awami League Presidium Member Faruk Khan, Joint General Secretary Dipu Moni and Organising Secretary Mahbiul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel to take steps to form new committees after holding discussions with all the conflicting factions. On December 27, Rahamat and Sadek announced the committees in a press release allegedly without holding discussions with stakeholders.
