Quader: Khaleda travelled to Cox’s Bazar by road to create mess

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has alleged that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia made her trip to Cox’s Bazar by road only to create a mess. Quader, also the minister for Road Transport and Bridges, made the allegation while speaking as the chief guest at a commemorative meeting held at Anwara upazila of Chittagong on Saturday. Anwara and Karnaphuli upazila chapters of Awami League organised the meeting on the fifth death anniversary of Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury who was a Chittagong-based politician and a presidium member of the party. “Khaleda Zia could have travelled to Cox’s Bazar by air. She did not go there for distributing relief materials. She decided to go by road only to create mess,” said Quader. Referring to the attack on Khaleda’s convoy in Feni, Quader said: “They say Awami League launched the attack. If Awami League really was behind this then why would journalists come under attack? No BNP leader was injured. Khaleda Zia did not receive any injury. She and her car went safely by. Only the journalists sustained injuries. It will receive a huge coverage in the national and international media if the journalists come under attack. That’s why BNP premeditatedly orchestrated the attack,” he said. BNP will take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections under any circumstances, the general secretary said. “Otherwise the existence of BNP as a political party will be at stake. BNP knows very well that it will have to embrace the fate of Muslim League,” added Quader. Terming BNP as an indisciplined political party, Quader said: “BNP has now emerged as a complaint party. The intellectuals belonging to BNP acknowledge that it is an ailing party.” With Awami League's Anwara upazila chapter President MA Mannan in the chair, the commemorative meeting was addressed by party Joint Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organising Secretary Enamul Haque Shamim, State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, south district unit President Moslem Uddin, central leaders Aminul Islam and Biplob Barua, local lawmakers Nazrul Chowdhury, Shamshul Haque Chowdhury, Abu Reza Md Nezamuddin Nadvi and former BCL leader Mahfujul Haider Chowdhury, among others. Reminiscing the life and works of Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury as a leader of the party, the speakers at the commemorative meeting said that a leader like Chowdhury is immortal and the party will always remember the invaluable his contribution.
