BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will set off for Cox's Bazar on Saturday from the capital for a four-day trip.
She will be distributing relief among the Rohingya refugees there, but party insiders say motivating supporters in that region ahead of the coming national elections is one of the key elements of this tour.
Party sources say BNP activists and supporters in the south-eastern districts are excited about her visit.
On Saturday morning Khaleda will go from her Gulshan home to the party's office in Naya Paltan, accompanied by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other central leaders. At 10am she will leave Dhaka for Chittagong.
She will have lunch in Feni district, her former constituency and spend the night at Chittagong Circuit House. On Sunday morning she will go to Cox's Bazar. The next day she will distribute relief to the refugees.
On Tuesday she will return to Dhaka.
Party members in Feni, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar told the Bangla Tribune they were excited about the tour and were making massive preparations to greet the party chief and the senior leadership.
